  • Ken Dornéval,  secrétaire-trésorier
    Ken Dornéval is a businessman born in St-Marc Haïti who has been living  in Montreal for many years. He is still very connected to his native land; his experience in business and his knowledge of the city of St-Marc is very useful in our project.
  • Guillaume Innocent
    Guillaume Innocent is an engineer and has worked in different  projects in Haiti and Africa. Living most of the time in Haiti, he visits regularly Montreal. On our behalf, he has been connecting with the senator of the department of the Artibonite that includes the city of St-Marc where l’Académie musicale de St-Marc is established. Mr. Innocent has the capacity to open us many doors so our project can grow.
  • Étienne  Lebel
    Excellent trombone player and music teacher, Étienne has been traveling and teaching in Haiti for the past 7 years and he really wants to go back.! He feels a connection with the haitians and their musicianship and he’s presently learning creole in order to communicate better. His experience as a teacher has improve over the years and he is building a strong association with Isnel Pierre, the permanent music teacher in St-Marc.

Louise Matte:

Louise Matte has been traveling regularly in Haiti over the years and communicates frequently with the haitian community of Montreal. She’s a producer and was Eval Manigat’s manager and booker for10 years. She is the co-founder of this music school project.

Jane Blackstone

Jane is a singer and music educator who has been passionate about bringing jazz and world music into public and private schools for over ten years .Ms. Blackstone is a graduate of Empire State College, where she majored in Music Performance and Fundraising for the Arts as well as New York University where she earned her masters degree in Music Education. She is presently on faculty at Harlem School of the Arts in New York City as well as being a long time private instructor of voice and piano.  She has been a fundraiser for Jazz for Kids, NYC , various recording and educational projects and a recipient of the prestigious NEA Grant for jazz performance.  Her performance credits include jazz festivals, international singers’ workshops and top New York music venues. Matthieu Langlois

Matthieu Langlois plays guitar and saxophone and is the band leader of “Mayorkestra”, a flamenco ensemble. He arrived recently in the organization and is planning to go to Haiti with Étienne Lebel in 2014. There is no doubt that his work as a social worker will enable him to connect well with haitian students. He’s planning a fundraising concert with Étienne Lebel on december 2013.

Isnel Pierre

Isnel Pierre studied with Eval Manigat and is the Académie’s regular music teacher in St-Marc on the third floor of the École primaire secondaire Lufrantz Dort. He plays saxophone and guitar and is the musical director of the school’s marching band. This marching band exists because of the generosity of the École Ozias Leduc from the south shore of Montreal which donated the musical instruments.

Mardoché Mervilus

Mardoché works at the students’radio and promotes the Académie, doing interviews. He’s also a sound and video technician.
